Description

The remote Henderson island has the highest plastic density on the planet despite being uninhabited. A minimalist design in black and sand, as a reminder. Every Baona martingale collar for sighthounds is handmade individually in a family workshop in Spain. Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certified materials, REPREVE® fabric with water-based eco dyes and sturdy metal hardware. We donate part of our profits to animal shelters.
Composition and care +

Composition

All the fabrics we use are 100% recycled and GRS-certified (Global Recycled Standard), or 100% natural and environmentally friendly. We use recycled nylon as a base (R-PET from bottles and other plastics recovered from the sea), heat-set for extra strength. The printed fabric is recycled REPREVE® polyester: every metre is made from 10 recycled bottles, with digital printing using water-based eco inks. The hardware is steel and zinc alloy, with nickel, matte black and rose gold finishes.

Care

  • Hand wash with cold or lukewarm water and mild soap
  • Do not bleach
  • Do not iron
  • Do not tumble dry
  • Dry in the shade to keep colours vivid for longer
  • If it gets wet with salt water or chlorine, rinse with fresh water as soon as possible to prevent corrosion
How to fit a Martingale +

Open the Martingale collar so it passes easily over the head. Once it sits halfway down the neck, adjust it: it should be neither too tight nor too loose.

Check that the buckles do not touch each other and that there is about three fingers of space between them when you pull the leash. If they touch, the size is larger than it should be and the collar could slip off.

Bottles used +

Every Baona piece is made from recycled bottles and other plastic waste recovered from the sea.

Estimated number of plastic bottles used to make each collar:

  • Size S — 7 plastic bottles
  • Size M — 8 plastic bottles
